A bunch of people were asking me for my protein bar recipe. I adapted my own recipe from a YouTube video by Natural GC over a year ago. These are crazy easy to make, just mulch some ingredients together, melt some things in the microwave, squish them together with the dry stuff, shove them in the freezer and 30 mins later you have scrumptious protein bars ready to eat 🙂 You can add more protein powder into the recipe if you like, although they can become somewhat overpowered with the taste (or lack thereof) of whey protein. I recommend playing around with the ingredients until you find what works for you. You can easily turn this into a vegan friendly recipe by simply substituting a vegetable based protein for the whey protein I usually use.

Ingredients

71 g Whey protein
140 g Rolled oats
63 g Almonds or peanuts
41 g 85% cocoa chocolate
72 g Peanut butter
34 g Apple sauce
37 g Honey
35 g Dried blueberries or cranberries
26 g Almond milk

Instructions

Crush the almonds (or peanuts) and place into a large bowl, then add the whey protein, rolled oats and dried blueberries (or cranberries) to it. Place the chocolate, peanut butter, apple sauce, honey and almond milk into another bowl and microwave until the mixture is melted together (stir if necessary). Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. It helps to use your hands to do the mixing, but a spoon will work too. If the mixture is too sticky, simply add some more whey protein to dry it out. You can either turn the mixture into small balls, long strips or even make little protein sausages out of them 🙂 These taste as good as they look and I highly recommend making some.

Optional

I like to munch one down for breakfast each morning. I fortify those ones with an extra 2 g of Vitamin C and 5 g of creatine. You could also throw in a multivitamin or other supplements you may want to consume each day. I prefer taking my creatine and Vitamin C this way as it’s a lot more convenient than popping pills.
