This is a crude hack to make the WiFi at Herman Schulz cafe in Berlin stay online, even though they automatically log you out ever 60 minutes.

Download SoWiFi chrome extension

Installation

  • go to chrome://extensions/ in your Chrome or Chromium browser
  • Check the “Developer mode” checkbox
  • Click “Load unpacked extension” and upload the entire folder
  • Activate the plugin whenever you are using a SoWiFi network connection

Warning

The extension has no way to detect if it’s on the SoWiFi network, and so it attempts to login to the network on every single page load. This is hideously inefficient, so you should make sure it’s turned off when using other networks.

Required improvements

The extension should only attempt to log in every 30 seconds or so, to avoid hammering the network too much.
