Sorry, but there are better ways to do this now. This project has been deprecated and is no longer in development. This page will be kept online for archival purposes and in case anyone is still interested in the project despite being no longer maintained.

Please use the SO Hide SEO Bloat plugin instead. It is well maintained, has more features and is all round better than the plugin listed on this page.

The WordPress SEO plugin is the most recommended plugin for handling fine grained control of SEO. It provides a raft of options and the ability to control almost everything you might ever want to modify in relation to your sites SEO. There are even paid upgrades available for those if you with niche requirements.

However, square pegs don’t always fit into round holes and if you happen to have a round hole then yer a bit screwed. In my case, I needed to implement the WordPress SEO plugin on a large scale multisite network. The site required some of the functionality in the WordPress SEO plugin, but some of that functionality was very undesired for this particular application. In particular, it was not allowed to barrage the end-users with tooltips in the admin panel and we did not want end-users activating the tracking functionality.

The SEO Whacker plugin disables those features automatically for regular administrators whilst keeping it functional for super admins or regular admins on single site installs. Note, regular admins are still able to access the administrations pages by entering the URLs directly. They are only disabled from the admin menu to avoid confusion for new users.

The plugin also removes SEO related links in the admin bar and the advanced and page analysis sections of the post edit screen.

Note: This plugin will not automatically update itself. This is provided on an “as is where is” basis.
